There are many questions you may have if you've found that your car has been towed. Here are some of the most common questions we receive.

How long after the auction do I have to make my payment and pick up the vehicle?
Please see the listing for each vehicle and click on the Disclosures and read the Seller policies.
How do I get a title using the paperwork given to me after the auction?
The paperwork must be sent to the Virginia DMV via fax or mail. You must send the entire packet of paperwork we provided, and fill out the VSA17A form.
Can I take the paperwork to a DMV service center?
No, you cannot. You MUST fax or mail it to the Virginia DMV.
I'm in another state. Can I send this to my DMV?
No, you cannot. You MUST fax or mail it to the Virginia DMV to get a Virginia title. You can then take that title to your state's DMV.
Do I have to pay any fees to DMV?
Yes. There is a $15 titling fee and a 4.15% sales and use tax OR a $15 titling fee and a $75 sales and use tax, whichever is greater.
How do I calculate my sales and use tax?
Multiple the sale price by .0415.
I want to register the vehicle too. How do I do that?
When you fill out the VSA17A, there is a section to register the vehicle also. The fees for that can be found at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/forms and search "fees".
I want to pay DMV by card, not check. How do I do that?
To do that, you must fax it and you will use form VSA153.

Should I make copies of my paperwork before sending it to DMV?
Yes. It is recommended to make copies of anything you mail to DMV as it could get lost in the mail.
The paperwork provided shows a lien on the vehicle. Will my title be clean and clear?
Yes. Part of the MSL process states that a vehicle owner and/or lien holder waive all rights to the vehicle and title if they do not reclaim (pick up) the vehicle from the tow company.
